Teachers Surprised with Recognition During Teacher Appreciation Week

A heartfelt nomination from one Hill student led to a special surprise for two Brockport teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week.
Hill student Caitlin nominated her teachers, Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Murgillo, for an award through the Flower City Down Syndrome Network in recognition of the support and care they show students each day.
On May 8, Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Murgillo, who co-teach at Hill, were surprised with the recognition and presented with a book featuring a character with Down syndrome.
Each year during Teacher Appreciation Week, the Flower City Down Syndrome Network honors special education teachers, therapists and service providers who make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families.
According to the organization, Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Murgillo have spent countless hours supporting students in many different ways while helping prepare them for productive lives in the community.
Brockport Central School District congratulates Mrs. Howard and Mrs. Murgillo on the well-deserved recognition and thanks them for the impact they make on students every day.
